For the last few weeks I've been tasked with helping define and create short form programming for the Yahoo! Developer Network. These are the guys behind the cool stuff that Yahoo! is built on, but they also evangelize and promote an "open" platform that allows others to build from. These are companies you'd heard of that use Yahoo! API's to make their stuff work and work well.
So what kind of programming can we do for a topic that only people who speak in circles with such terms like "PHP", "Apache", "API's" and "Rails". The answer is easy, make it visually better and seek out great subject matter. The good problem to have is the subject matter, there is a TON of it.
So my goal is tell a
good visual story, but also add a nice touch of humor to what these developers do and ultimately make the stuff they work on much more fun to watch now.
Take for instance "Hack Day". This is something Yahoo! does both internally and externally to promote hacking, but in a good way. The stuff that churns out of a typical Hack Day would blow your mind! Stuff for the iPhone! Web applications that make it easier for you to do some really cool stuff. Check out my "Y! Hack Day Highlight" video:
